A way of thinking

After ten years being in the U.S., I still struggle with English. I'm not talking about the pronunciation (actually, I think my pronunciation is not bad, at least people can understand me 90% of the time), I have a hard time understanding why things are the way they are, here is an example.

Since Jeff is a golfer, I have learned some golf equipment terms, like: driver, putter...; and I always call the wedge "wedger". To me, it only makes sense! "Driver, Putter and Wedger!"

Last night, Jeff got home from mutual, was telling Jathan about scout.
"Son, are you going to be a scout? Jeff asked.
Jathan answered: " No, I'm a fisherman!"
"When you go fishing, you camp in the wood too!" Jeff said.
"O, I can be camperman too?!" Jathan said.

Do Jathan and I think alike? or I just think like a 4 years old?

  1. I think that the children just learned the way we say about things. I wonder do you only speak Cantonese to them at home or you speak both to them?
